Friday night I slept incredibly late. My parents and relatives were singing on the karaoke machine till 2:30am and let's just say the rooms aren't exactly designed to be soundproof. Regardless, I still had to wake up early Saturday morning for the Big Meet.
The Big Meet happens once every two years. My grandfather and his two brothers started this tradition that every two years, the three brothers and their children and grandchildren all congregate at one of the brothers' houses.
Let's just say my grandfather and his brothers (and their respective children) got quite jiggy with it. There were over 120 people there, and I knew maybe twenty of them.
After that, it was a drive down to KL, chill out for a while, freshen up, unpack, re-pack and off to my dad's hometown, the village of Rembau in Negeri Sembilan (after a three hour traffic jam on the highway in the rain).
Now this was some serious old school village going on. I woke up on Sunday on the floor to the sound of a cockeral and we proceeded to go from house to house all morning till noon.
I've always found the village kinda boring. There's nothing much to do and I don't know the relatives on my dads side as well as I do the ones on my mom's side. The only thing that perked my interest was watching a chicken fight a 7 inch long centipede, a real big red motherfucker that looked like it could sting you to death. The chicken won hands down and proceeded to eat the bugger. There was a Jet Li movie based on this. I think it was Once Upon A Time In China 5.
After the Sunday morning trips to relatives I don't know I finally managed to weasel my dad into letting me leave back to KL early. I drove straight to my girlfriends' house, picked her up and spent the rest of the evening watching DVD's and chilling out.
And now, back to the pit.
...
...damn, I gotta work on my endings.
